From a messy process description to a priceable spec
Record the conversation with whoever does the work, paste the transcript, and run these in order. The output is a spec, with its own gaps marked.
1 · Extract the steps
Straight after the conversation, on the raw transcript.
Below is a transcript of someone describing how they do a recurring piece of work. [PASTE TRANSCRIPT] Extract the process as an ordered list. Write every step as verb, object, system — for example "check the order in Shopify", not "verify order details". Where they named a system, keep the exact name. Where they did not, write SYSTEM UNKNOWN rather than guessing. Do not tidy the order into something more logical than what they said.
